Sales Division II, Head Office / T

Q1

Please tell us about your responsibilities.

A1

I’ve been working in sales since 2010. Our company is engaged in a wide range of businesses, but I’m in charge of the semiconductor and digital signage businesses. After procuring products from electronic device manufacturers and display manufacturers, I act as an intermediary with the customers and coordinate the entire transaction, including the contract work, delivery arrangements, product delivery, and settlement. Developing new business is also an important part of my role as a sales representative.

What made you decide to join the company?

Q2

What made you decide to join the company?

A2

I first heard about the company when I was approached by a recruiter.

Since I had always desired to be globally active and engage with customers not only in Japan but also overseas, I had hoped to work as a sales representative dealing with international business. I felt very honored when I received an offer from Fuhrmeister Electronics, a company with many overseas clients. As a trading company, Fuhrmeister Electronics has built a global network with a focus on South Korea. I saw the opportunity to engage in business with other Asian countries, and that's why I decided to join the company.

Q3

What are the things you value
or pay attention to most in your work?

A3

The most important thing for me is to be sincere with customers. I strive to treat all of my customers with the utmost sincerity, regardless of the size or nature of their projects. I also make an effort to accurately understand the apparent and latent needs of our customers and think about the kind of actions that I or the company should take in response to our customers' requests.

I also value communication with those around me. Since there's a limit to what one person can achieve alone, I place great importance on communication and collaboration with our internal staff and business partners.

Can you share an experience at work that you found particularly rewarding?

Q4

Can you share an experience at work
that you found particularly rewarding?

A4

The work I do feels rewarding daily, but the most memorable moment for me was when we delivered a semiconductor to a customer. These were semiconductors used in devices used by many people around the world. Deliveries started off smoothly when mass production was just starting, but a sudden increase in demand for this specific device almost led to a situation where meeting the semiconductor delivery deadline for the production plan became challenging. After repeated discussions with the supplier and the customer, we managed to reach a compromise and were able to deliver the semiconductors without disrupting the customer's production. Things were quite challenging during that period, but when we managed to overcome all those difficulties, it was a really satisfying and fulfilling moment.

Q5

What kind of company is Fuhrmeister Electronics and what do you like about it?

A5

Fuhrmeister Electronics handles a diverse range of products and businesses. We handle commercial products like semiconductors, electronic materials, and electronic devices of course, but also things like digital signage and solar power generation too. Because of this, each employee is accountable for their specific area of responsibility, and the products each of us manage, as well as the nature of our work, vary significantly. As a sales representative, I find it very rewarding to be able to think for myself and have the freedom to turn those thoughts into actions. The pressure may be stressful sometimes, but it’s also an environment where you can take on new challenges as they come, and the freedom you’re given helps you learn faster.

Please give a message to those who
are considering joining the company.

A6

The mission of Fuhrmeister Electronics is to connect Japan and the world through a wide variety of commercial products. I hope that you value not only communication with domestic and overseas business partners, but also "connections" with the people you work with. Greater freedom for each individual does not mean that we’re isolated. Our company's culture of valuing people is deeply rooted, so when you have a problem, communicate with your boss and colleagues and solve the problem together and take advantage of our "organizational strength." Of course, we also welcome those who "prefer to think and work independently" while engaging in communication not only with internal colleagues but also with customers and various stakeholders.

General Affairs / K
General Affairs/K

Q1

Please tell us about your responsibilities.

A1

I’m a member of the General Affairs Division and am responsible for various general affairs tasks that form the foundation of company operations. This includes establishing various regulations, handling requests and reviews of approval documents and contracts, and overseeing the overall internal environment. As the company's "behind-the-scenes" support staff, my main job is to help business operations run smoothly. We also own solar power plants in six locations in three prefectures, and the management of these facilities is under the jurisdiction of the General Affairs Division, so I’m also in charge of that as well.

What made you decide to join the company?

Q2

What made you decide to join the company?

A2

I was working for a company in a completely different industry in my previous job, but once I turned 40 years old, I felt a growing desire to challenge myself in a different industry. I compared and contrasted many different companies in my job search, but it was Fuhrmeister Electronics that matched exactly the criteria I was looking for.

I actually applied to several other companies I was interested in, but during the interview with this company, the interviewer was very easy to talk to. This made me confident that the company's atmosphere would suit me well, so I decided to join. Incidentally, my interviewer from that day is a member of the General Affairs Division with whom I’m currently working.

Q3

What are the things you value
or pay attention to most in your work?

A3

The work of the General Affairs Division is diverse, and much of it affects the company and its employees as a whole. Because of this, I try to be as meticulous as possible in arranging tasks and managing information. In particular, the General Affairs Division handles a massive number and variety of documents, including approval documents, contracts, and various application forms from employees. Since many of the documents contain important information for the company and its employees, I make it a point to manage it very carefully.

I’m actually not very good at keeping things organized, but I also stop myself from procrastinating on it just because I’m bad at it. Instead, I’ve been making a conscious effort to organize documents the second I receive it.

Can you share an experience at work that you found particularly rewarding?

Q4

Can you share an experience at work
that you found particularly rewarding?

A4

Since I just joined the company mid-career in 2023, it’s difficult for me to share any specific achievements, but I feel rewarded when I’m able to contribute to the company or the colleagues I work with. I believe that the main function of the General Affairs Division is to support the company as a behind-the-scenes force, so when an idea I have leads to further improvements in the company, I feel a great sense of accomplishment.

Q5

What kind of company is Fuhrmeister Electronics and what do you like about it?

A5

The appeal of Fuhrmeister Electronics lies in its "casualness," in the best sense of the word. Because I had changed jobs from a different industry, there were many words that I had never heard before in the beginning, and many tasks that I had never experienced before. Even in such situations, I think the unique "casualness" of the workplace environment made it easy to talk to the senior workers around me, and I was able to ask them questions without holding back. Sometimes the conversation can get a little too lively in fact, but what I appreciate about the work environment here is that there’s a balance of being serious when seriousness is required, and being casual in situations where it’s not.

Q6

Please give a message to those who
are considering joining the company.

A6

If you work eight hours a day, you spend one-third of your day at work. Isn't it a very important factor when considering joining a company to have a clear perspective on who you’ll be working with and how you’ll work for that one-third of your day?

Our company has fostered a culture that values an environment in which employees can freely express their ideas and opinions to each other, and here, I think that you’ll be able to fully demonstrate the abilities you’ve cultivated in your career to date. There are also multiple patterns for staggered workdays, which can be changed flexibly according to the day's schedule. Overtime hours are low, allowing for a fulfilling work/life balance.

Since most of our employees are mid-career hires, I believe that we can grow together, not only with those in the same industry, but also with those, like myself, who are changing careers from different industries.

Sales, Seoul Branch Office / S
Sales Seoul Branch Office / S

Q1

Please tell us about your responsibilities.

A1

I work as a technical sales representative at the Seoul branch. I’m in charge of semiconductors for consumer electronics in general, with a focus on microcontrollers (MCUs), providing technical and delivery support. In a nutshell, the job of a technical sales representative is to support the smooth business development of our customers. We respond accurately and promptly to various concerns from our customers, and support them to successfully launch mass production of their products and ensure their profitability.

What made you decide to join the company?

Q2

What made you decide to join the company?

A2

I was in charge of software development work for mobile content at my previous job, but I wanted to work as a field engineer to gain field experience, so I started looking for a new job. I applied to Fuhrmeister Electronics because I thought I could make full use of my past experience in development work. The fact that I’m able to forge human connections through meetings with customers was also a big draw for me. I chose to join the company because I was drawn to the nature of the work, which involves satisfying customers by addressing their requests in real-time. I also believed it would be an environment conducive to enhancing my skills.

Q3

What are the things you value
or pay attention to most in your work?

A3

My top priority when working is gaining the trust of our customers. Customers who consult technical sales usually do so because they are in a challenging situation. The most important thing for technical sales is how quickly and accurately they can respond to customer requests for technical support and delivery coordination. I believe that building trust with our customers comes from delivering suitable support in response to their requests.

On the flip side, if we neglect the commitments and trust we establish with our customers, even if everything seems fine in the moment, I believe that it’ll have repercussions in the future. This way of working can also result in a loss of pride and self-esteem in your own work.

To impress our customers. I believe this is of the utmost importance, and I approach my daily work with this in mind.

Can you share an experience at work that you found particularly rewarding?

Q4

Can you share an experience at work
that you found particularly rewarding?

A4

We’re in the process of delivering microcontrollers to a customer, and as it turns out, both our company's products and those of a competitor were partially used. The South Korean models for the domestic market used our products, while our competitors' products were used and mass-produced for the international market.

When we looked into why our product was not used in overseas models, we found that noise test results on printed circuit boards were weaker than those of our competitors, and that our competitors' products were used in countries with unstable voltages.

Although not requested by the customer, we obtained a printed circuit board to improve noise test results and worked with field application engineers to find issues and potential improvements with the hardware and artwork, eventually achieving better test results than our competitors. After proposing this to the customer, it was decided that our products would also be adopted in the export models.

We were able to achieve impressive results through aggressive sales activities, even without any explicit requests from the customer, and I found this very rewarding.

Q5

What kind of company is Fuhrmeister Electronics and what do you like about it?

A5

Fuhrmeister Electronics is engaged in the business of selling semiconductors such as system LSIs, microcontrollers, LCD drivers, and analog ICs purchased from electronic device manufacturers to electronics manufacturers that produce LCDs, home appliances, automotive electronics, and other similar products.

There are many things I like about our company, but my favorite is that I get to meet so many people. Through my work, I have met a variety of people with different personalities and have learned a lot, not only in terms of professional skills, but also in terms of human connections. I think this is the greatest advantage of our company.

Our company tends to do a lot of work that deals directly with customers. There are many opportunities to interact with overseas customers, and it’s necessary to constantly improve yourself, including your foreign language skills. Of course it’ll be difficult at times, but you’ll eventually find that your foreign language and business skills are improving naturally.

In addition, our company has many dependable senior staff members. They should be able to assist you whenever you need help based on their extensive work experience in each of their fields. Working with these senior staff members can also provide you with a lot of learning opportunities.

If you have a career plan that matches our company's work, I encourage you to apply. Working for a company that is highly competitive in the industry will surely help you grow.

Q1

Please tell us about your responsibilities.

A1

I am currently in Sales Management II, Sales Division III. In April 2023, I moved from the Seoul Branch Office to the Tsu Office in Mie Prefecture where I’m working now.

My main task is to introduce South Korean semiconductor manufacturers' products to our Japanese business partners. In addition to introducing products, we are also responsible for listening to the diverse needs of our customers and providing accurate feedback to semiconductor manufacturers so that they can develop products that meet market trends.

What made you decide to join the company?

Q2

What made you decide to join the company?

A2

At my previous workplace, I was in charge of driver ICs that drive and control LCD displays. While I was there, we worked together with Fuhrmeister Electronics as a trading company partner and we were able to work together as one toward a goal, which resulted in a significant contribution to sales expansion. Later, I decided to look for a new job due to the reorganization of my former workplace, and I decided to apply to Fuhrmeister Electronics based on the previously mentioned experience.

I felt that I would be able to work with passion at Fuhrmeister Electronics while making the most of my past experience.

Q3

What are the things you value
or pay attention to most in your work?

A3

First is human connection. I believe that in order to perform our duties well, we need to have amicable relationships not only with our customers but also with team members in the same workplace, so I strive to build better relationships with them.

Second is a relationship of trust with the customer. I try to build a relationship of mutual trust with our customers and to be able to talk about anything with them. I believe that, without mutual trust at the foundation, it’s difficult to build and maintain better relationships.

Third, don’t be overly conscious of the results. In the course of our work, sometimes things go smoothly, and sometimes things go wrong no matter what we do. Of course results are important, but even if they don’t come to fruition, I try to focus on the fact that the many lessons gained throughout the process has contributed to my continuous growth.

Q4

Can you share an experience at work
that you found particularly rewarding?

A4

The first thing that comes to mind is when, while traveling on the Shinkansen, I received a call from a customer saying that there was a matter that needed to be handled immediately regarding a product that was about to go into mass production. Sensing the urgency of the customer's situation, I quickly got off at the following station and got on an online meeting. Because of this, we were able to solve the problem quickly, and it was rewarding when we were able to successfully start mass production.

In another case, due to a variety of circumstances, samples had to be picked up and transported to the supplier on the same day. So, I visited the airport customs directly to pick up the samples and then traveled by car for 5 hours. I felt a sense of accomplishment when I safely reached the delivery location on the same day, and mass production proceeded without any issues.

Q5

What kind of company is Fuhrmeister Electronics and what do you like about it?

A5

With a branch office in Seoul, our company has contracts with various Japanese and South Korean companies and has established particularly close relationships with the LG Group, LX Group, and LS Group in South Korea. Our company's main business is semiconductor products, but we also engage in a wide range of other businesses such as material-related products and digital signage.

In a word, our company is a global trading company that coexists within both Japanese and South Korean corporate cultures. My coworkers and supervisors are all people I deeply respect, and we help each other and enjoy working together. I also think another strength of ours is that we do not become complacent in our current position, but instead we flexibly expand our business in line with the trends of the times.
